Meet Marcel the Shell.

First saw this on Naomi's blog and I got such a kick out of it, I just had to share! It's so silly and cute. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Woman in Tie

I give those dedicated outfit bloggers a ton of credit for what they do every single day. It took me forever to put this little get-up together. I was so excited to have recently bought a tie for myself (for the very first time too!) that I couldn't wait to mix it up with some other pieces.

How many of you use a big wool sweater as a coat for the Autumn season? Believe it or not my sis was going to get rid of the sweater I'm wearing in these pics, I'm lucky I snatched it up when I did, even if that did mean literally ransacking her give-away bags at the last minute. It's my go-to wool coat for these chilly days, it's vintage, and I LOVE how comfy and warm it is.

Even though temps are falling here, I'm so happy the sun is still around.

Wearing a tie out yesterday was fun, and though I wasn't sure about adding the vest or not, I do like how it turned out with the colors of the rest of the outfit. Grey, green and cream aren't too bad of a trio.

p.s. Can I just take this time to say how much I love my yard? I do. I DO! I LOVE my yard. Where I lived before I had really no yard to myself because it was an apartment complex. I'm just so grateful for this new yard in my life now that I've moved. Who knew dead leaves could smell so good? And it is so very nice to look out of my window and see trees, grass, and a barn. It's the little things, dears, these simple little things. Just wanted to add this little part because I love what the colors of the leaves add to these pics.

The Lights

I've probably already said this a few times, but I'm usually attracted to dark colored clothes, I suppose because 1. I've always thought they look better with my skin tone and 2. they're harder to stain, and stains love me. *sigh*

For those of you who can pull off of the lights, I think these few pretties are illuminating the shop quite nicely, don't you think so?

Mexican Treats

I was *so happy* to recently discover a little Mexican market in my new neighborhood! My mama's side is Hispanic and the entire family is huge. I always looked forward to eating at my Grandma's house because she made the best food anywhere in the world. It was nice to pick up a few goodies!

Soda pop is a very RARE treat in my tiny little household which consists of just me and my little boy, but when I saw him hold up a Jarritos orange soda, the exact same drink that used to be my Grandma's favorite when she was still alive, I had to give in just this time. . . :)
These sodas are still made the old fashioned way, with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. It really was a treat, especially considering that it was in a glass bottle, like how they used to come when I was a kid.

I love all of the international markets in my little town, but I think this one is my new fave. It's about roots, you know? ;)

Wednesday Wishlist :: A Double-Breasted Coat in Cream

Lately I've been looking online and in some of my favorite brick and mortar vintage boutiques for the perfect vintage winter coat. I've decided that I want a cream-colored double-breasted coat because in one of my searches I came upon these few below and they have me convinced! I almost always buy dark colors to wear - sadly and simply because I know that I am accident prone and tend to get stains on any light item I ever try to incorporate into my wardrobe. boo! Any of you have this happen to you often?

My favorite choice
of all is a little out of my price range, but I thought about asking my boyfriend to go halfsies with me on it.
(maybe this could be my birthday gift?)
Something about that dollar amount tells me he might not agree.

Below are a few a little less expensive. Gorgeous, aren't they?

Remember your first crush?

I love this little animated video about first crushes. Do you remember yours? Mine was a little boy named Kurtis in kindergarten. He was so nice to me, I remember. I also remember his cute little smiling face on the nearly hour long bus ride home. He made that trip from school to home less boring than it otherwise would have been. One day, when it was my turn to hold the door open for recess, he even kissed me! I think my face must have turned beat red if I can recall. We'll never forget our first crushes, will we? :)

What a great idea for the film maker to use animals for the little clip, it's so adorable. Enjoy!

Novelty Print of the Day -- 1970's BAMBOO Maxi Halter Dress

This dress is not fit for the season of fall that I'm getting ready for, but perhaps if you life in a warmer climate you could make it yours! I absolutely love the bamboo print, and the halter style and maxi length create such a pretty silhouette too.

The Monday Seven

In a perfect world, I would list at LEAST 7 items per day in my little vintage shop. Ah, but back to reality, it is a good feeling when I CAN do that here and there like today. I'm kind of in love with that last light gray dress, isn't she a beauty?! Keep an eye out for her and the rest of these 6 vintage goodies, as they should be up in le boutique by tonight. xoxo

Music Monday, In A Matter of Speaking.

I first heard this beautiful song when I went to the theater to see the movie A Mighty Heart. The song started playing during the credits and I couldn't leave the theater until it was over. After I got home, I had to look it up and buy it. So glad I did, because I found out this band sings many lovely tunes! This is not the real video below for the song, but someone put it together on youtube from old film footage of women of yesteryear, and I like how it gives the song a bit of a different meaning regarding the expression of women.

Novelty Print of the Day -- 60's Vintage ERTE-INSPIRED Mini Dress

Quite a marvelous print on this vintage 1960's mini dress! The illustrations are obviously Erte-inspired, maybe even reproductions of some of his drawings. And being a fan of Erte's creations, I had to post this unique frock for the novelty print of the day!

Sunday Delights

It's October, and our high temperature here in the southeastern part of the mitten today is 81 degrees! Makes me so happy. So while I will be soaking up as much of it as I can today, (walk in the park maybe? read a book under my backyard willow tree?) I would also like to have each and every one of these items listed by evening's end. It'll be a tug-o-war between that lovely sunshine and my duties today. Wish me luck. ;)
