2 Hour Trip For a Guitar

This is my best guy friend James. The other day I dropped everything I was doing to head out on a spontaneous road trip from Michigan to Ohio in search of what James called the guitar of his dreams. He insisted that I just HAD to come along. . . so I did. This was a guitar he found on Craigslist, so this little spur of the moment excursion was just to see if the instrument was all he was imagining it to be.

This better be good, Mister!

We filled 'er up,
Headed out on the open road,
Sang our hearts out to classic rock playin' on the radio really loud,
Enjoyed the country scenery,
and then came the meeting.
James explained to me in technical terms how cool this guitar was, but my favorite part was that it was signed by Peter Frampton!
He picked it up the Gibson Les Paul like it was a baby, and after minutes of giddy conversation with the original owner, he decided it was a GO! I love the shiny caramel color.

I haven't seen James this happy in a long time, it's so cute.
When I asked him about the Frampton autograph, he told me he wouldn't even mind taking it off the guitar. I begged him not to! He said the signature had nothing to do with his love of it, and then proceeded going into all of the other reasons he was fond of the thing, none really of which I much understood, as I know very little about musical instruments.

But I'm so very happy I ended up going along.
It's nice to see someone following their dream. :)

Wednesday Wishlist :: The Yellow Dress

I LOVE the color yellow for this time of year.
It is just such a cheerful and pretty shade, seems almost energizing.
This bright hue is always quite popular for summer parties like weddings and such too.

From lemon and saffron to buttercup and marigold, these lovely yellow dresses on Etsy are currently taking up pages in my favorites.
Aren't they beautiful?

Novelty Print of the Day -- vintage 50s Blue Skies and Green Trees Cotton Skirt

What a beauty! A sunny blue-sky day on a 1950's cotton skirt.
I want to be sitting underneath one of these trees enjoying a shady spot...
Don't you love the water detail too?
You can almost hear it splashing up against the rocks!
Such a serene scene on this sweet piece of clothing from yesteryear.

Currently for sale on Etsy from seller: turbodress

She Said it Best. . . Miranda July.

"Look at the sky: that is for you. Look at each person's face as you pass on the street: those faces are for you. And the street itself, and the ground under the street, and the ball of fire underneath the ground: all these things are for you. They are as much for you as they are for other people. Remember this when you wake up in the morning and think you have nothing."

— Miranda July (No One Belongs Here More Than You)

When I was taking digital video production classes years ago in college, I found out about this amazing woman named Miranda July. At the time, she had a project going on called Joanie4Jackie, which was a chain letter of short movies from women film makers all over the world. How I wanted to be a part of it! Maybe someday I will, since it seems to be in the works yet again. Ms. July is the kind of girl I would want to be in my circle of friends. The extent of her creativity fascinates me! I'd love to meet her one day. . .

Bright as Yellow, Warm as Yellow

My brother introduced me to the angelic voice of Karen Peris when I was in high school.
She is responsible for the lead vocals in
The Innocence Mission.
I love this song, the lyrics are so beautiful and the video is so summery. Enjoy!

And I do not want to be a rose
I do not wish to be pale pink
But flower scarlet, flower gold
And have no thorns to distance me....

Bright as YELLOW.

Novelty Print of the Day -- vintage KEYS TO MY HEART Sun Dress

How was your weekend, dearies? Mine was full of family and food. 'Twas a great time, and always seems to go by way too quickly.

Today is the official first day of summer! I'm planning some kind of celebration later, even if it is eating dinner at the lake.

Today's novelty print comes from the etsy shop vintagewise. This dress is so incredibly sweet. Do you see the tiny old fashioned keys? I love the ruffled bodice and full skirt too. This would look so cute with a pony tail and some cute sandals. (Along with a tender-hearted man holding your hand while walking through the park.) This little beauty has me feeling a little romantic today. :)

Find the dress here at Vintagewise.
