Happy Birthday, Foodcake!

Just had to send out a special "Happy Birthday!" to one of my dearest friends ANGELA. I met Angie my freshman year of college and I always credit her to having a very positive effect on the way I think and view life. You know those kind of friends? They're the best! She even bought me this book one year for my birthday and it was such an eye-opening book to work through. She is also responsible for introducing me to one of my favorite bands of all time, The Squirrel Nut Zippers!

Many sparkling great moments have been had with this funny, creative girl! I LOVE her, dearly. And though many, MANY miles separate us. . . (she now lives in Spain with her husband) I think about her often. (She's basically the #1 reason why I'm setting up Skype soon!)

oh, and in college I called her "Angela Foodcake" hence the title of this post. :)

My Best Friend's Wedding

One of my very dear friends, Abby Rose, was married this weekend to her sweetheart of 5 years, Tommy. I loved so many details of their charming little outdoor wedding, that I just had to share some pics! Hope you enjoy.

A + T = ♥

The Happy Couple

If I'm ever to be married, I hope it is an outdoor wedding as well. I really delighted in the greenery all around and especially the rose petals on the ground where the couple stood. Also, how about that little lacey 50's style wedding dress!? She had it specially made for her, and she couldn't have picked a more flattering and beautiful dress.
Such a cutie pie, my Abby Rose!

Beautiful outdoors

Really love the colors chosen for the outdoor decor too.

Awww, this picture (part of the decor) was from the beginning of their dating adventures.
This was the beginning.

The most ADORABLE ring bearer ever, Owen.

Gifts for guests: Locally harvested honey in jars. Such a cool token of appreciation, and very much like them to choose a local product to support.
Love is Sweet The sweetest gift. :)

The prettiest guest seating!

"Please sign our guest book" area, complete with past pictures of relatives
and an old school typewriter. Loved the vintage feel here!
Love this guestbook setup! Gorgeous book of Engagement photosScrapbook 2
The setting at night, so incredibly lovely.
Lit up at night, so pretty!

My sis and I had a marvelous time, wish we would have taken more pics with the bride, though! Will have to post the photo booth ones after I scan them. Photo booths at weddings are SUCH a fun idea, btw!

All my love to the new Mr. and Mrs.

Teeny Tiny COMBINED Update.

I miss you, my blog and twitter friends! I also miss posting (and especially seeking) my favorite novelty prints. I'm quite sorry I've been MIA this week. I've been working a ton and have also been a little stressed out because I have three weddings to attend this month! The good news is that one was held this past weekend and so I only have TWO more to go.

I wanted to post what I wore to the first wedding because I LOVE this skirt so so so much and was never able to post it this summer. Isn't it beautiful? I found it on ebay years ago. It's one of those things that I could never ever sell.

This is just a pic of a boy I met that night. Thought he was absolutely adorable and in this picture I was giving him fashion advice. heehe. I told him to turn his coat around so he could show the red plaid on the other side. Afterward, he received a few compliments on his plaid coat. :) (totally made my night.)

I hope to be back into somewhat of a normal schedule next week, but also wanted to share my current favorite item in the shop.

These adorable SAILOR JEANS! If they fit me, I'd be keeping them, but they're just a tad too big. Aren't they so cute, though?

Last but not least, WHIP-IT comes out TONIGHT, ladies and gents! You'll see me in this movie, but you gotta pay attention, it's pretty fast!
It's a super cute movie and I hope you enjoy it. It was an honor being Ellen Page's stand in last summer during filming, and being a hot tamale too. ;) Click here to see more of my pics from the set!

Also, I thought I might take this time to say that being in that movie made me realize how much attention the celebrities get and how little attention everyone behind the scenes actually gets. So these photos are in celebration of THOSE PEOPLE, and here are some of my favorites. :)

Barbara, hair stylist

Stephanie, make-up

Amy, Props

Gordon, set painter. Love this sweet man!

Stephen, locations manager, and one of my favorite people on the set!

Phil, (with glasses) locations assistant, and 2 other assistants

Hardworking cast & crew, moments after last Michigan scene, Sept 13, 2008

Francesca & Erin, Detroit Stand-ins for Marcia Gay Harden & Alia Shawkat

Autumn, Gracie, Gerard, Birch Run stand-ins

Production assistants, Darrel & Adam

Just thought these dedicated people deserved to have some attention too. What an amazing experience it was watching all of them work together to create what ends up being an hour and a half movie for our entertainment!

A fantastic weekend to all of you!
xoxo

80's Night Out

Imagine your ideal night out with the gals. I was able to experience that little dream of mine last Saturday when a couple of my girlfriends and I traveled to metro Detroit to experience this cover band called The Mega 80's. I have forever wanted a night to get all dressed up crazy and mix-matched, pick up the gals, and go dancing to my favorite songs from growing up!

This was the outfit I initially wanted to wear, however, the skirt was a tidbit too snug, so. . .

. . . this is what I ended up wearing. Aahh, much more comfortable, and definitely tons more colorful.

My fun friends. Getting ready is almost the best part!

Ready to dance!

The band played all sorts of fun 80's pop rock during the 1st part of the show.

It's Maverick and Iceman. We developed a lil' crush on these cool guys that dressed up like the Top Gun boys.

There's just something about those aviator sunglasses. . .

The 2nd half of the show was dedicated to heavy metal and hard rock. So the band members came out with new outfits. Bring on the big hair!

Tired gals. We danced ALL NIGHT LONG and worried we might lose our voice the next day from singing so hard.

I hope to go back very soon. I'm so attached to the 80's because when I was a little girl I used to watch some of my aunts spend hours getting ready to go out. I remember thinking that I couldn't wait to be grown up so I could dress all pretty and go out dancing too. :) The memory of their pale eyeshadow, great lash mascara, and pastel pumps will never leave me! (and all of those songs from Saturday night were ALWAYS playing in the background. . . )

My Sweet, Sweet Summertime. . .

I don't want to forget (in the freezing cold of the Michigan winters) how much I appreciated my summertime. . . so I decided to share a few things I've delighted in during these past few warm months. Enjoy!

Art Fairs in the Street. . .

. . . and street art. . . :)

My Mom and Dad's garden, and one of my favorite, most fulfilling places to be in the summertime.

Dad's beautiful horses. I felt like they were telling me, "Please, if you would get our profile shots, darling!"

Mom's clothesline. She's never been without one for as long as I've known her.

An amazing full rainbow I saw out of the blue very recently. ♥

Going to the colorful carnival and feeling like a kid again. . .

Remembering the King of Pop. . .
Michael Jackson puppet at a local art fair

Locally well known street performer who sings and dances to Michael Jackson's songs. . .

Seeing special people I haven't seen in too long, like Angela, one of my dearest friends ever and an amazing photographer!

and. . .
Meeting new friends, like Denise, who ETSY sellers will love because she told me a story about how her mother had bought her several gifts from an expensive department store and she took it all back to spend the money instead on items she loved from ETSY! This gal is so much fun! :)

Spending time with my favorite little person in the whole wide universe, my son . . . One of our favorite things to do in the summer is to explore neighboring towns, and especially make it a point to visit their libraries. Can't wait to share pics of this soon!

And finally, something that always makes me smile, finding hearts in nature. . .
Leaf Heart, while walking

Yellow pepper heart, while preparing fajitas

Sky heart, while resting in the sun

I hope you are all savoring YOUR summertime too! I take pleasure in all four of the seasons of my sweet little mitten state, but it's often the case that I wish to hold onto summer just a little bit longer every year. If you live in a similar climate, think of something that you can only do in the summer that you haven't allowed yourself to enjoy, and get out there and enjoy it before we hit sweater weather! You'll be happy you did, promise. :)
