Hats & Wintry Things

I'm immensely inspired by Ashley of Poppycock on Etsy lately. She makes me want to wear hats/buy hats/and sell hats. Her shop is quite beautiful, and if you haven't seen it you must!

A couple of weeks ago I had an antiquing trip near where I live and found some real cute "lids"* that are finally all listed in the shop!

*I had one of my favorite hats on last year around Thanksgiving and an older man probably in his early 70s told me at Trader Joe's that he liked my "lid". Thought that was pretty cute. :)

You'll also now find in the shop a pretty pleated wool suit, alpaca poncho (which I also listed as a skirt because I think it would look darling worn as one), a dirndl (favorite dress style ever, maybe), St. John metallic knit skirt suit, Rhinestone constellation dress, reindeer sweater, and some other vintage pretties.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, everyone! (can't believe 2012 is almost over). How in the WORLD did that even happen?!

MEGA Awesome

Dancing is my drug. it's the best natural high in the world besides that one other thing ....um.....chocolate. yeah that. ;)

and the most wonderful friends of all are the ones who take you out to dance, especially for your birthday! I was a happy, happy girl when a few of friends took me out this weekend to see my faaaavorite cover band of all time, the MEGA 80's. Going to see these guys is ALWAYS such a blast, and that's very apparent when 2 o' clock in the morning rolls around and I've lost my voice and my feet are killing me from cuttin up a rug!

These guys play a first set which includes all kinds of pop rock and one-hit wonders from the 80's (think simple minds, j. geils band, corey hart, etc...) then there's an intermission and when they come back on stage, get ready to rock -- it's time for MEGA METAL. hahhaha! The 2nd set is ALL glam rock - cheap trick, great white, whitesnake, def leppard, etc) I LOOOOOOOOOVe it! And the best part of all is that we were able to get on stage & dance & sing with the band for the last song of the night, and one of my faves of all time - I love Rock & Roll, by the one and only Joan Jett.

It's even more exciting seeing all of the people who dress up for the night. I always try to! If you live in the Mitten, I suggest you check them out one of these evenings, I can just about guarantee you won't regret it!

before the band came on stage --- ohhhhhhh the anticipation! uzzz
2nd set MEGA METAL

Tried convincing people that his hair was real
this is the 1st set
hawwwwwt.
LOVE this shot! Can you hear that guitar?
Sang right in my face!
so RAD. And sheesh, for a cover band, these guys sure get a lot of attention from the ladies! stage

Halloween Costume Faves

How was your Halloween? It's always so much fun to dress up & go out! I'm seriously floored every year at how creative some people are with their costumes. I can't take much credit. My kitten outfit was really simple - just a leopard print jumpsuit and some black make-up on my face. EASY BREEZY, people! Here are some highlights from a night of entertaining disguises - can you spot Princess Leia? Coco Chanel? Frida Kahlo? And initially I thought one guy was Orville Redenbacher, but I was wrong! Can you guess who he is? Isn't Lollipop girl adorable? (that crown!)

My fave of the entire night was the girl in the last photo. She was probably sick of my compliments by the end of the night, but I couldn't stop going on and on about her cosutme, it's FANTASTIC, and entirely homemade!

Newest arrivals brought to you by the month of November! Brr, is it getting cold out there! Stay warm in pretty printed velvet, sweater blouses, long sleeves, angora & wool, and cozy & cute coats. I'm starting to think that I should have sold that grey sweater & the plaid skirt together, because they make such a darling outfit.

Visit the shop to view these recently listed goodies, oh and let me know what you think about my new shop & blog banner, which I FINALLY got around to making. I'm pretty happy with it. :)

Changing Seasons

IMG_4448 IMG_4422 IMG_4427 IMG_4364
Hello online pals, I've been away for a bit. Sometimes it's needed to give perspective on things. I was on the west side of the state for a few days, and while there I had a vintage appointment scoring a couple of 40s suits that I cannot wait to put into the shop so definitely STAY TUNED! I'll share more about this trip hopefully later this week! :)

This is one of my favorite early fall outfits because of the colors. The wool cardigan is a necessity for this one, though. Take it off, and I'm dressed for summer again. p.s. Isn't that little kitten pin cuter than candy? He might just be my favorite part of this entire ensemble. *meow*

October's First Batch

Say hello to October's first shop update - full of vintage goodies to keep you warm & looking pretty for fall. I have many personal faves from this recent batch of goodies! The fuzzy shearling hat reminds me of a baked alaska pie, the first sweater with the floral embroidery instantly charmed me, and the color of the 1960s wool coat (pumpkin spice) I thought perfect for cool Autumn days at the apple orchard.

Find each of these vintage beauties in the shop!
