Wardrobe Staples, The perfect white blouse

There are a few things a girl can't do without regarding necessities in her wardrobe. One of these essentials is the perfect white blouse. After searching the virtual racks on Etsy, I found these lovely beauties that span from the 1940's to the 1980's. This classic wardrobe staple comes in so many shapes and styles and is perfect for every season. It can be worn so many different ways: layered with a jumper, worn under a sweater, coupled with a cute skirt, or just paired with your favorite jeans!

Classy and modest.

80's Night Out

Imagine your ideal night out with the gals. I was able to experience that little dream of mine last Saturday when a couple of my girlfriends and I traveled to metro Detroit to experience this cover band called The Mega 80's. I have forever wanted a night to get all dressed up crazy and mix-matched, pick up the gals, and go dancing to my favorite songs from growing up!

This was the outfit I initially wanted to wear, however, the skirt was a tidbit too snug, so. . .

. . . this is what I ended up wearing. Aahh, much more comfortable, and definitely tons more colorful.

My fun friends. Getting ready is almost the best part!

Ready to dance!

The band played all sorts of fun 80's pop rock during the 1st part of the show.

It's Maverick and Iceman. We developed a lil' crush on these cool guys that dressed up like the Top Gun boys.

There's just something about those aviator sunglasses. . .

The 2nd half of the show was dedicated to heavy metal and hard rock. So the band members came out with new outfits. Bring on the big hair!

Tired gals. We danced ALL NIGHT LONG and worried we might lose our voice the next day from singing so hard.

I hope to go back very soon. I'm so attached to the 80's because when I was a little girl I used to watch some of my aunts spend hours getting ready to go out. I remember thinking that I couldn't wait to be grown up so I could dress all pretty and go out dancing too. :) The memory of their pale eyeshadow, great lash mascara, and pastel pumps will never leave me! (and all of those songs from Saturday night were ALWAYS playing in the background. . . )

Wednesday Wishlist, Inspired by the Brilliance of Balmain!

A few days ago you could find me nearly drooling while flipping through the pages of Elle Collections in B & N. I'm in love with the brilliance that is Balmain for Fall 09. In the magazine, they called it BALMAINIA. My favorite is the silver metallic sharp shoulders dress, so futuristic and H-O-T!

Inspired by all of those pictures of luxe and luminosity, I needed to do a little virtual window shopping and found these amazing vintage items on Etsy. Although these pieces are not fresh off of the catwalk, I think they are definitely runway-worthy!

BACK-TO-SCHOOL Shop Update

My friends keep telling me, "Stop wishing for fall!" But I can't help it, it's one of Michigan's most beautiful times of the year, AND I'm such a sucker for apple cider and doughnuts! ;) Fall also means I'll be returning to my real job, possibly only part-time this school year, now that I'm so in love with Etsy!

Here are a few updated items from the shop that I thought were perfect for the Back-to-school theme. What's your favorite fall item? When it starts getting chilly I can't wait to retrieve all of my favorite vintage sweaters out of storage! Some I've had for years, and they're not in what I'd call excellent condition by any means but there's just something special about putting on your favorite old cozy warm sweater when it gets cold. . . we've all got one, I'm almost sure of it.

For those of you not looking forward to sweater weather at all, don't worry, we've got plenty of hot days left. AND. . . remember that incredibly warm October we had not long ago? That was AMAZING.
