Skirt-as-a-Dress First Timer

I never ever got into the skirt-as-a-dress trend, that is until I came upon this way pretty 70s skirt, which is obviously made for someone about a foot taller than me! I went crazy for the print - bright & bold flowers bursting out all over the place & blue birds too. Also, after I saw how much fabric it was actually made of, I knew it would be even better moving on a body. First time I'm doing the skirt-as-a-dress and I love it! Was playing with the idea of super short hair too, which is why I stuffed it all into my hat for the 2nd pic. One day I'll actually muster the courage to chop it all off. . . one day.
Happy Friday, friends! Shop update coming tomorrow mornin'! :)

Madame Mystery

Currently reading up on the Edwardian era of fashion, and learning about many of the famous actresses of the time. None of the women mesmerize me like Theda Bara! Those big kohl-heavy eyes likely spellbound many back then. She was one of the first sex symbols in film and dubbed the VAMP of the black & white movie era. Isn't she such a beauty? I'd love to do a photo shoot inspired by her look...

Mini Wrap

IMG_1559 IMG_1526
This is probably the miniest of the mini dresses that I will wear this summer. I couldn't pass up that pretty asian-inspired floral print. Isn't it great? and Shhhhhh! Between you and me -- I actually found this little frock in the pajama section when I was thrifting, but I think it works fine as a little dress! (breakin' rules) :p It's suuuuper soft & silky too, and fits me quite well. not vintage, but still a keeper. Wrap dresses are so easy to wear, and flattering for all body types! Think I might layer this with tights & a cardigan in the fall too, it's so comfortable! What do you think, good rule breakin' or bad rule breakin'?

What You'd Expect, Part 2

Big shop update #2, way overdue, but still what you'd expect from the shop! Bows, ruffles, sequins, lace, flowers, and plenty of my favorite color - RED! I nearly fainted when I found those rhinestone-encrusted suede Charles Jourdan heels -they're made for you tiny feet girls out there! (size 5) All these goodies in the shop! xo

Just What You'd Expect

This is 1 of 2 shop updates for the weekend, only because I haven't posted one in AGES and I want to share some of the pretties I've been listing within the past month or so! Again, I'm sorry for the lack of posts my dear friends. I'm a work in progress and so is my shop/blog/online life. BALANCE is key & I'm still working on that.

But as usual, the update is (hopefully) what you'd expect from Lola Vintage -- ruffles, some florals, lace, bows, and the other details that make an item especially feminine. :)

All these pieces are currently available in the shop!

p.s. the first dress pictured I purchased from a huge antique mall after falling head-over-heels in love with it.  It came with a note that read, "worn on a barefoot bride with flowers in her hair". I think a soon-to-be bride should make this 1960s beauty come alive again before summer is over!

How To Be A Grouch

My bio says that I love vintage books, but I realized that I never share any of them on the blog. These pages are from "How To Be a Grouch" starring that cute green & fuzzy sesame street monster, Oscar! Recently found this one while secondhand shopping with my son. I got such a kick out of it, I had to show you guys. Besides the dress racks, the thrift store bookshelves can be hiding fun old treasures too!

"Scram" is my new favorite word.

We've all had days where we've said that to ourselves in the mirror, haven't we?
