Novelty Print of the Day -- 1990's Trompe L'oeil TUXEDO Swimsuit

It was only when I started selling vintage online about 7 years ago that I realized the awesome trick in fashion that I KNEW I loved immensely had a name. Trompe L'oeil is French for "trick the eye". This has always been one of my very favorite details, especially in clothing, and it's the reason why I'm such a big fan of Elsa Schiaparelli, one of the first designers to use it in her creations. (More on that later, promise!)

I was so happy when I stumbled upon this swimsuit this morning on Ebay. Perfect example of the fun optical illusion in action. So CUTE isn't it?
