7 Loves for Saturday

1. My dream bed. I love canopy beds!

2. These awesome recycled journals made from VHS cases by DustyMoon on Etsy. Sadly, John Hughes passed away this week. He was the writer of one of one of my all time favorite movies of the 80's, "Pretty in Pink".

3. Kagome. Drink a bottle a day and there you have almost your entire daily-required fruits AND veggies. ;) Simplicity makes life wonderful.

4. Cigarettes my friend bought in Turkey. I love their advertising, it's pretty frank, and I wish it were more so here in the states.

5. The fact that a beloved story from my childhood, Alice in Wonderland, has again been adapted into a movie, starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter! I've loved every masterpiece that has come from the mind of Tim Burton!

6. Speaking of Alice in Wonderland, found this recently on Etsy, for sale by hautecountryvintage! So cool!!

7. Been waiting all week long...tonight my girlfriends and I are going out to an 80's dance party! It happens only monthly, so we're way excited! We needed some inspiration so I thought these gals would be the perfect music to listen to while we're getting all made up. ;) THIS will be us tonight, can't wait!! Pictures to follow soon! xo

Novelty Print of the Day -- Op Art 60's Circular Illusions Top

The 1960's were full of awesome optical illusion designs. They're so neat to look at, and this long sleeved top is one of my faves. Reminds me of a psychedelic galaxy scene, such mod signature 60's bold colors too! On sale now by GoodEye on Etsy.

More novelty prints featured all next week. Have a lovely weekend, dearies!

My Sweet, Sweet Summertime. . .

I don't want to forget (in the freezing cold of the Michigan winters) how much I appreciated my summertime. . . so I decided to share a few things I've delighted in during these past few warm months. Enjoy!

Art Fairs in the Street. . .

. . . and street art. . . :)

My Mom and Dad's garden, and one of my favorite, most fulfilling places to be in the summertime.

Dad's beautiful horses. I felt like they were telling me, "Please, if you would get our profile shots, darling!"

Mom's clothesline. She's never been without one for as long as I've known her.

An amazing full rainbow I saw out of the blue very recently. ♥

Going to the colorful carnival and feeling like a kid again. . .

Remembering the King of Pop. . .
Michael Jackson puppet at a local art fair

Locally well known street performer who sings and dances to Michael Jackson's songs. . .

Seeing special people I haven't seen in too long, like Angela, one of my dearest friends ever and an amazing photographer!

and. . .
Meeting new friends, like Denise, who ETSY sellers will love because she told me a story about how her mother had bought her several gifts from an expensive department store and she took it all back to spend the money instead on items she loved from ETSY! This gal is so much fun! :)

Spending time with my favorite little person in the whole wide universe, my son . . . One of our favorite things to do in the summer is to explore neighboring towns, and especially make it a point to visit their libraries. Can't wait to share pics of this soon!

And finally, something that always makes me smile, finding hearts in nature. . .
Leaf Heart, while walking

Yellow pepper heart, while preparing fajitas

Sky heart, while resting in the sun

I hope you are all savoring YOUR summertime too! I take pleasure in all four of the seasons of my sweet little mitten state, but it's often the case that I wish to hold onto summer just a little bit longer every year. If you live in a similar climate, think of something that you can only do in the summer that you haven't allowed yourself to enjoy, and get out there and enjoy it before we hit sweater weather! You'll be happy you did, promise. :)

Novelty Print of the Day -- MIRO-INSPIRED 80's Whimsical Top

Fan of avant-garde surrealist Joan Miró? I fell in love with his work when I was in high school and chose him for my Humanities report. This top is obviously inspired by his paintings. Look at that bold, colorful and whimsical print! Currently for sale on Etsy by FastEddiesRetroRags.

I love posting novelty prints and being able to share this little obsession with the world through my blog! Hope you're enjoying them too! :)

Novelty Print of the Day -- FISH o' PLENTY Yellow 60's Dress!

In an earlier post, I wrote a little about The Vested Gentress, a company popular during the 60's-80's that was responsible for making dresses with the most adorable prints! This fish print dress is currently available on Etsy by seller Encore Vintage.

If you haven't heard of the Vested Gentress and you love novelty prints, make sure to periodically search online (Ebay, Etsy, Market Publique). I cannot believe the darling, whimsical prints I've seen!

♫ Isn't she Lovely? Isn't she wonderful? ♫

Finally, my sis {and the 2nd half of LoLa Vintage} is going to be a little more active around the shop from now on. :) Thank goodness! This week she's modeling some of our most fabulous finds!! It will be nice having her help more a little here and a little there. However, she absolutely refuses to sit in front of the computer as much as I do. Fortunately, I'm the kind of person who loves sitting at a desk and trying (very hard I might add) to stay constantly organized. ;)

Thanks, sis! You certainly light up the room in these dresses, schweethawt! I'm so glad you like to dress up too!

A couple of these pretties have already been added to the shop, others are coming very soon, so stay tuned lovelies!

Novelty Print of the Day! -- Dog Lover's 50's FULL Skirt!

I'm in love with this skirt!! I currently live in a place where I'm not allowed to have dogs. :( I've wanted to get a puppy for about 2 years now, and the plan is that it will happen as soon as I move, in about a year. Can't wait!
This ADORABLE 50's full skirt is currently for sale on ebay by seller floozeesvintage. Isn't it darling?
I have so many wonderful memories of the dogs I've had while growing up. How about you?

More fun prints featured this week, stay tuned!
