Crush on Corduroy and Velvet

Two favorite winter-ready fabrics are all over the place in the shop. I think the velvet particularly makes the page look so pretty. :)

Novelty Print of the Day -- vintage 70's Kisses & Hearts Red Mini Dress

I miss my novelty print posts, I haven't done one in ages! But as soon as I came across this ridiculously cute dress, I knew I had to share it with all of you. How sweet would this be for Valentine's day, girls? Besides the all out amorous kisses-and-hearts print, the balloon sleeves and flirty mini length are sweeter than sugar!

For sale by Lovespyvintage on Etsy.

Pinstriped Pantsuit

I may be one of very few, but I crush on fitted pantsuits. Especially when they fit me. Finding them in which the blazer jacket AND pants comfortably fit my petite frame seems rare. Whenever I do find cute suits, the blazer is all too often too big for my *ahem* smaller upper half.  I specifically love, (and should have photographed) that the pants on this suit are high waisted, (double bonus, my favorite pant style) which makes them versatile as well.

Recently had to meet up with my 1 of my son's teachers and this is what I wore. Ahh, the easy professionalism of the pantsuit. When cut well, putting one on makes feeling "well-put-together" seem instant!

p.s. this is my last post with long hair (for a while anyway). I've got a new hairstyle and can't wait to post pics soon!

Romantic Reds & Pinks

It's almost time to break out the pinks and reds, my ladies. We have 36 more days until February 14th. Here are a few pretties from the shop that just might fit the occasion perfectly.  That first one really has my heart right now. . .

I Resolve To. . .

Ohhhhhkay. It's past that time to make New Year's resolutions, isn't it? I guess I should've been thinking about this a week or so ago, but AS USUAL, I'm a few days behind on my blogging. It's going to take a week or two to get back into the swing of things after that all-too-relaxing couple of weeks of holiday, don't you think so?

here's my little list. did you already make yours?

I resolve to. . .
  • Make more time to spend with friends. I'm blessed to have awesome gal pals in my life. They have no idea how much their listening ears and fun spirits have meant to me.
  • Do more outfit posts. I don't know why I don't. I usually take all the pictures of the outfit and never end up putting them up. (as was the case below)
  • appreciate nature no matter what season it is. Admittedly, winter is my least favorite season, but I pledge to try to find the good in it this year!
  • Get more organized. Somehow. someway. this seems so consistently difficult for myself year after year. *sigh*
  • Nurture my little boy's talents any possible way I can.  Where I grew up the only extra-curricular activities offered were band and sports. I'm so happy my son has more options where we live now. His latest interest? Acting!
  • Make working out a part of my life. a happy part I hope. :) Just joined a gym recently!
  • Cook for the people I love. I think cooking dinner or baking something for the people you care about is one of the most sincerely loving gestures.
  • write, write, write. I don't know how I've let this passion slip away from me. (going to buy a new journal today)
  • and for the shop: 200 items? ? ? ? Keep me inspired, my fellow vintage sellers! I really want to make that happen this year.
Au Revoir 2010, and hello 2011!

Wednesday Wishlist :: Ridiculously Cute Animal Sweaters

I find most vintage animal sweaters irresistibly cute! I think they appeal to the little girl in me. There was one I owned when I was about 10 or 11 or so and it had a ton of white sheep with a black sheep in the middle. How I loved that cozy sweater with all of my heart. It was red with puff sleeves too! Years later I found a similar one and ended up selling it on Ebay. It was too big for me at the time, but darn! I think that I should've held onto it, as it would probably fit now.

Below are some of my current favorites that you can find on etsy. Which one do you like the most? The kitty cat pullover is calling out my name! Also really wish I could find a peacock sweater in my size. . . being a vintage seller and buyer I just know I'll come across it someday. ;)

    Italian Wool, One George.

It feels like it's been about a bazillion years since I've done an outfit post, and believe me I'd do more if my schedule allowed for it! But while I'm enjoying this week of post-Christmas cleaning and organizing my entire apartment leisure time I decided to throw one in for good measure. (oh, and to show off my latest favorite dress). :)

While browsing the racks at my local favorite thrift store a week or so ago, I came upon this dress and immediately fell in love with the colors. I was even happier when I glanced at the tag and saw that it was vintage Italian designer wool. Eeek! On top of that, it was my size, I could tell just by looking at it.

What you WON'T believe is how much I paid for it. I handed over one little George for this dress, and that amount covered the price, and then some!  I know. I felt like such a lucky girl that day. The reason the dress was such a bargain, though, was because there are a handful of tiny holes that need mending in the fabric. I didn't mind, it, though. I've already started patching a few of them up, and only have a few left to go.

Aren't the colors perfect together? One shade in the dress matched perfectly the iced ginger cookies given as a gift from my neighbor. The only thing I would say to keep in mind when wearing a wool dress like this one is, don't forget your slip, it makes wearing the dress so much more comfortable.
