When I was in the 4th grade, I had a crush on this boy at my new school. He ended up being my little boyfriend in the 5th grade. Remember being that young and doodling hearts with boys names inside of them? This was the boy whose name {Gabe} was inside my doodled hearts. :)
We had always remained nice to each other throughout high school, but lost touch after graduation.
14 years later, we find out we live about 20 minutes away from each other and decide to go out on the town. I wasn't sure what to expect, and although I was a little nervous, I'm so glad I took the little risk to answer the question,
"hmm, what will this be like?"
because I ended up having such a great time!

Out on the town:
Nice photo background, I thought.

Introduced him to one of my favorite little hangouts . . .

where you can have your beer served in a boot if you'd like ;)

Any dancing boy is cool in my book.
. . . probably because I love to dance too!
We even inspired others to shake their groove things!
Don't you just love jukebox joints?
They're my FAVORITE.
14 years later, who knew?

The best part of the night was laughing so hard my tummy hurt.
I love those kind of laughs!
There are boyfriends and there are boy friends and
I'm starting to realize at this point in my life I
enjoy seeking out the latter of the two. ;)
Next time we plan to try karaoke, can't wait!
This is what we do! This picture was taken last week when I spent an entire week in the middle of the mitten with most of my family. Although it might not look like it, I really WAS enjoying the scenery. I'm embarrassed that when this was snapped I was on a cell phone call in the middle of the forest. I'm with my siblings here. We grew up in the country and one of the ways we spend quality time with each other is by taking long walks out on my dad's property (acres of gorgeous mid-Michigan woods).
Now that I live in the city (well, what I consider the city -- population of about 115,000) I realize how wonderful it was to grow up where you CAN'T hear cars and other people's conversations outside of your window. (no offense to my nice, family-friendly apartment complex.) ;)
When I get some time to travel north again, I'm going to make sure I take more thoughtful photos there in the woods. You wouldn't believe how beautiful it is!
It also smells amazing, don't you love the scent of spring?
I honestly feel like I'm on a happiness high.

Next on the agenda:: A little shop update.
I've been delighted in finding cute little spring items for the shop! All of these floral pieces, along with peek-a-boo details and light fabrics, and sun dresses are making their way into my inventory and winter items are being put away slowly but surely.
This is THE BEST time of the year, if you ask me.
Shop Spring!

Friday is almost here, YAY!

I've always loved finding vintage blouses or dresses that have prints of faces or fashionable ladies on them.
This blouse by Planetclairevintage
has been in my Etsy favorites for a while. The flapper styles of the 1920's are well depicted on this fun and colorful top! I love how the bright colors contrast with the black and white. It would look so cute paired with a red or black skirt.
A cute conversation piece, don't you think?
SPRING FEVER has definitely made the shop a little prettier, don't you think so?
I love the mix of denim, florals, and lace right now.
Speaking of spring fever . . . it's been marvelous going to the park directly after I pick up my son from school lately. Just a simple walk outside can be quite awe-inspiring. The teeny tiny little buds are popping out on the trees, the birds are tweeting cheerfully,
there seems to be a genuinely happy feeling in the air between people.
My favorite time of the year by far.
E N J O Y it.
XOXO
