Romantic Reds & Pinks

It's almost time to break out the pinks and reds, my ladies. We have 36 more days until February 14th. Here are a few pretties from the shop that just might fit the occasion perfectly.  That first one really has my heart right now. . .

I Resolve To. . .

Ohhhhhkay. It's past that time to make New Year's resolutions, isn't it? I guess I should've been thinking about this a week or so ago, but AS USUAL, I'm a few days behind on my blogging. It's going to take a week or two to get back into the swing of things after that all-too-relaxing couple of weeks of holiday, don't you think so?

here's my little list. did you already make yours?

I resolve to. . .
  • Make more time to spend with friends. I'm blessed to have awesome gal pals in my life. They have no idea how much their listening ears and fun spirits have meant to me.
  • Do more outfit posts. I don't know why I don't. I usually take all the pictures of the outfit and never end up putting them up. (as was the case below)
  • appreciate nature no matter what season it is. Admittedly, winter is my least favorite season, but I pledge to try to find the good in it this year!
  • Get more organized. Somehow. someway. this seems so consistently difficult for myself year after year. *sigh*
  • Nurture my little boy's talents any possible way I can.  Where I grew up the only extra-curricular activities offered were band and sports. I'm so happy my son has more options where we live now. His latest interest? Acting!
  • Make working out a part of my life. a happy part I hope. :) Just joined a gym recently!
  • Cook for the people I love. I think cooking dinner or baking something for the people you care about is one of the most sincerely loving gestures.
  • write, write, write. I don't know how I've let this passion slip away from me. (going to buy a new journal today)
  • and for the shop: 200 items? ? ? ? Keep me inspired, my fellow vintage sellers! I really want to make that happen this year.
Au Revoir 2010, and hello 2011!

Wednesday Wishlist :: Ridiculously Cute Animal Sweaters

I find most vintage animal sweaters irresistibly cute! I think they appeal to the little girl in me. There was one I owned when I was about 10 or 11 or so and it had a ton of white sheep with a black sheep in the middle. How I loved that cozy sweater with all of my heart. It was red with puff sleeves too! Years later I found a similar one and ended up selling it on Ebay. It was too big for me at the time, but darn! I think that I should've held onto it, as it would probably fit now.

Below are some of my current favorites that you can find on etsy. Which one do you like the most? The kitty cat pullover is calling out my name! Also really wish I could find a peacock sweater in my size. . . being a vintage seller and buyer I just know I'll come across it someday. ;)

    Italian Wool, One George.

It feels like it's been about a bazillion years since I've done an outfit post, and believe me I'd do more if my schedule allowed for it! But while I'm enjoying this week of post-Christmas cleaning and organizing my entire apartment leisure time I decided to throw one in for good measure. (oh, and to show off my latest favorite dress). :)

While browsing the racks at my local favorite thrift store a week or so ago, I came upon this dress and immediately fell in love with the colors. I was even happier when I glanced at the tag and saw that it was vintage Italian designer wool. Eeek! On top of that, it was my size, I could tell just by looking at it.

What you WON'T believe is how much I paid for it. I handed over one little George for this dress, and that amount covered the price, and then some!  I know. I felt like such a lucky girl that day. The reason the dress was such a bargain, though, was because there are a handful of tiny holes that need mending in the fabric. I didn't mind, it, though. I've already started patching a few of them up, and only have a few left to go.

Aren't the colors perfect together? One shade in the dress matched perfectly the iced ginger cookies given as a gift from my neighbor. The only thing I would say to keep in mind when wearing a wool dress like this one is, don't forget your slip, it makes wearing the dress so much more comfortable.

    Newest and Soon To Come

As I said yesterday, it's been too long since I've had a shop update. I have been slowly adding items to the shop, just haven't made an update here on the blog due to the business (busy-ness!) of holidays. So here is my overdue batch of goodies, with most already added to the shop, and the rest coming some time during today.

P.s. The first ever little girl's item will be added in the shop today. (see bottom pic) When I first saw it, I couldn't resist buying it! I actually wish it were my size, it is so incredibly darling! I'm seriously considering adding a girls section to the shop because lately I've been seeing the most adorable items. Any advice for this idea would be greatly appreciated, my fellow sellers! XO

    Leave it to the Holidays!

Leave it to the holidays to get me entirely off schedule! I'm feeling awful that I haven't blogged recently, but just wanted to say that I hope each and every one of you are enjoying the holiday season with your loved ones! I reallllllllly love this time of year.

I have yet to post pictures of my blue feather Christmas tree, the colorful lights decorating the trees outside, and lord knows I'm way behind on shop updates, but I'm hopeful and confident that January is going to kick my butt into organized, motivated, and not-so-crazy-busy mode. (Thank goodness January is right around the corner!)

Did any of you do "elf yourself" for family or friends?
My fam LOVED IT! :)  So sorry I'm a day late w/this, but if you want to make one for some special people in your life here's the link:  http://www.elfyourself.com/

There were only spaces for 5 people so I excluded myself, and sadly, I had to exclude my son, niece & nephew in this one, but I did end up making one just for them. Here's the other 5 people that make up my own crazy little clan; Dad, Mom, sis & my two brothers. ♥
I guarantee you're bound to get a few laughs out of your kin if you make them something silly like this. =)

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

    Thanksgiving Blessing

I was supposed to post these pics just after Thanksgiving, but I kinda got sidetracked with all of the other 9 billion things going on in my life right now. Isn't this time of year so crazy, you guys? We have to make sure everyone is taken care of on the Christmas list, all cards are sent out,(with proper addresses, stamped), and meanwhile I'm trying to keep the shop updated, and then working, and being a mama. . . WHEW! December definitely challenges us!

Initially at Thanksgiving I was bumming because my own little boy was going to be with his dad this year. But when I got home to Mom and Dad's I realized that this was the perfect opportunity to bond with my little nephew, Isaac. I had to share these pictures because I think this little boy's sweetness just shines right through in that smile. (I also had to post these because I promised I would put him "on the computer" so he could see himself) ;)

Here's a funny little snippet about him: While we were all lounging around relaxing for the holiday, he asked me to get him some toast and jam and he had kindly said "please" with his request. I went up to him and said, "Thank you so much, Isaac. I love when little boys use their manners, that makes my heart so happy." He sat at the table for a second lost in thought and a moment later says to me, "Aunt Jessica, how does your heart feel when little boys do naughty things?" As hard as I tried not to laugh, I couldn't help it, I lost it!
    silly boy.

Even though he lives 2 hours away, I'm so thankful to have him in my life!

I wish my family lived closer. I've often thought about moving closer to them, but their internet is so slow (and it's "high" speed) that I'd have to probably give up my little etsy shop. No way, Jose! But it does make the time when we see each other all the more special. ♥
